Media Technology and audience experience

What is it?

In the Reading lists, I chose “Urban Archaeologies: Embodied Viewership in Recent Media Art”. The author mainly discusses how contemporary media artists use a series of aesthetic and technical means and the special ability of photography, film and interactive video to excavate the images of real and imagined cities, and study the role of memory and personal agency in urban experience.

The author lists the artists’ various iterations of recombination of images in their works, so that the audience becomes an active participant in the way of meaning construction. Through visual, auditory and other sensory experience, the importance of the audience to the works is highlighted, so that the audience can be more subjective from the works.

In the era of information development, the combination of digital media and traditional design can make the design have better artistic aesthetics. This article makes me understand that the sense of audience experience is always the primary thinking direction of designers. At the same time, the theme background is also the link that needs to be understood. For example, in the second project in the first semester, I took the urban subway system as the theme background and used the combination of digital technology and visual aesthetics to produce products after understanding users’ needs through interviews and surveys. In the field of art and design, the birth of each design requires continuous iteration and combination. How to enable users to have a good emotional experience from the design and arouse the resonance of the audience will also be the focus of my future design practice.
